Hunan will build a motorway network called Five Verticals and Seven Horizontals in 25 years. Based on the National Expressway Network Plan (NENP), the Motorway Network Plan of Hunan province takes a layout of 5 verticals, 7 horizontals and 9 other motorways with a total mileage of 5,500km.

The motorway network covers the whole province and connects the periphery area. It will also link Changsha, Capital of Hunan, with other cities of this province. Besides, the key cities, famous tourist cities, important highways, railways, ports and airports will be connected by motorways. It will be more convenient and effective to meet motorways from all of the counties.

With 22.1% of 1,218km completed and 14.1% of 777km undergoing, the 63.8% of 3,511km left in Hunan Motorway Plan will be completed in another 25 years, with an estimated investment of 176.9 billion Yuan.
