Hubei will start the construction of 986km motorways in these two years. 452km motorways are sure to be started within this year. They are: 183km long Wuhan-Jinmen Motorway, 122km long Enshi-Lichuan section of Hu-Rong-Xi Motorway, 147km long Hubei section of Daqing-Guangzhou Motorway. Next year, Wuhan-Yingshan Motorway, Wuhan-Macheng Motorway, Edong-Yueyang Yangtze River Bridge, Jinzhou-Yueyang Yangtze River Bridge will be constructed with a total mileage of 534km. And Yichang-Badong Motorway construction will start at the same time.

By the end of this year, the motorway mileage open to traffic in Hubei will reach 1,647km, with 987km under construction. According to the 11th five-year plan, by 2010, the motorway mileage open to traffic in Hubei will reach 3,500km, double that of the 10th five-year period.
