The commencement ceremony of Zhashui-Xiaohe and Xiaohe-Ankang motorways in Shaanxi was held, indicating the Xi'an-Ankang(in  south Shaanxi) Motorway passing through Qinglin super long tunnel started in an all-round way.

This motorway is an import part of the state planned Arongqi-Beihai west main artery in Shaanxi. It starts from the south section of Xi'an beltway and ends in Ankang city south of Qinling Mountain with the longest road tunnel (18km) of China through the Mountain. The total length of the motorway is 218km with dual two-lane motorway standard and design speed of 80-100km/hr.

It will be built in 3 phases and Xi'an-Zhashui section will start in late 9, 2002 and be open to traffic in 2006. Zhashui-Xiaohe section and Xiaohe-Ankang section will be open to traffic in 2009 and 2010 respectively.
